The game’s skirmishes feel a bit lacking, as the biggest games you can do are 2v2. Bonus points for the stylistic presentation. I enjoyed the art style and “The Builders” by Daniel Polansky-esque grimdark animal fantasy setting. But if you look past that, it can provide some fun and cheap thrills. There’s not much of an argument for unit diversity. You want to build whatever special units you have. You can tell the small developer had difficulty tuning some of the levels because available online walkthroughs show very different scenarios than what is currently in the game.ĭon’t expect too much strategy, as there isn’t a rock paper scissors approach to units. My main gripe with the game is that its campaign has a huge difficulty spike when you reach the 3rd act.

It works well enough and is certainly a unique concept. You can’t have action on multiple fronts, but the action plays out in single, mob style clashes. Because of this, there’s not much strategy. It attacks any selected enemies mob style. Your character is the curser and as you move him or her around the map, your army moves with you. Units spawn at buildings or, in some missions, are built one by one. You don’t build bases, just claim points on the map and build farms to power your economy. Tooth and Tail blends RTS concepts with point and click adventure games for a very minimalist strategy experience. It doesn’t have much staying power or depth, but it’ll provide a unique, minimalist, and fun bite sized strategy game you wont regret playing. I’d give a lukewarm recommendation for Tooth and Tail.
